Successful development of new Microphone

23rd October 2020

Darcet Microelectronics recently reached a successful milestone in developing its high-end microphone product with their wafer fab partner Thai Micro Electronics Center (TMEC). TMEC has a facility for developing MEMS sensors and possess much needed skill sets. It is constantly adding more tools that are suitable for MEMS related fabrication.

TMEC, a National Science and Technology Infrastructure (NSTI), a part of National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) which comes under Thailand Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), is equipped with highly dedicated and qualified engineers and researchers. TMEC offers a variety of services for MEMS based sensor development. Darcet Microelectronics has been engaged with TMEC for some time and Darcet enjoys its partnership with TMEC. The commendable Thai culture and the hospitality of its people makes it a very suitable partner to work with.

TMEC is a six-inch wafer fab located in Chachoengsao, a city which is roughly 70 kilometers from Bangkok in the direction of the Chon Buri province where the famous tourist destination Pattaya beach is located. (Chachoengsao is one of the three provinces in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), a special economic zone in the east coast of Thailand.)

The CTO of Darcet Microelectronics Mr. K. Sooriakumar (a.k.a Soori) and one of their collaborating researchers Dr. Jirawat Jantawong are participating in this evening’s celebration. It is unfortunate, due to Covid-19 and travel-related restrictions, that many of Darcet’s key employees could not participate in the lovely celebration held at the TMEC premises. Darcet management sincerely thank TMEC director Dr. Wutthinan Jeamsaksiri, project coordinator Mr. Jakrapong Supadech, Dr. Chana Leepattarapongpan, Dr. Win Bunjongpru and rest of the team for their relentless support and endeavors to successfully develop the product. Darcet is also in the process of starting two other new developments with TMEC, namely the receiver/speaker and the Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) sensor.
